Globeville Neighborhood was originally settled in the late 1880's around the Globe Smelting and Refining Company. Many of the early workers were Eastern European immigrants. Globeville was originally platted in 1889 and incorporated as a town in 1891. Denver annexed Globeville in 1902. Even its early years, Globeville was isolated from the rest of the city. Railroads and the South Platte River served as barriers. In the mid 20th century, Globeville was further impacted with I-70 was constructed.
