Watkins is a smaller town east of Denver along I-70 and E-470. Considered a rural town with the relocation of Denver International Airport and construction of E-470, Watkins is in the corridor that will see growth and expansion. Watkins (also once known as Box Elder) is in Adams and Arapahow Counties and adjacent to the City of Aurora. Watkins was an unincorporated community until June 15, 2004. However, on November 7, 2006, the town overwhelmingly voted to revert back to being unincorporated.
